8 Tips to Thriving and Surviving Stepfamily Life
Presented by The StepFamily Center and Married with Baggage

A ground-breaking, research-based and interactive workshop designed to educate and empower those who are facing the challenging tasks of “blending” families, either through remarriage or dating relationships.

WHO THE WORKSHOP IS FOR:

• Couples in remarriage with children who are struggling with “blending” their families.

• Couples who are trying to enhance and improve their remarriages with children.

• Couples who are dating and considering remarriage.

• Singles who are dating others who have children who may or may not have children themselves.

• Professionals who work with stepfamilies.

The workshop is designed to offer hope and help to those in remarriage not succumb to the many challenges inherent in remarriage. Individuals, couples and those considering remarriage will benefit from this workshop.

Stepcouple Chats

Stepcouple Chats, hosted by Susan Swanson, allow stepcouples to meet with other stepcouples to talk about the issues of stepfamily life. The chats will meet the second Saturday morning of each month. Anatomy of a StepFamily: Why StepFamilies are
Different from Nuclear Families

While 52% of Americans are in a stepfamily system, they continue to be treated by therapists using a nuclear family template. This 1-1/2 hour presentation will help therapists learn the fundamental differences between a stepfamily and a nuclear family, including their unique stages of development and issues that affect each member in a stepfamily system.

Public Speaking Engagements

Executive Director Susan Davis Swanson is available for public speaking, radio and television appearances. In addition to working with stepfamilies, Susan has more than 15 years of experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and couples issues. She utilizes EMDR, somatic techniques and spirituality to help her clients move forward and experience the relief they deserve.
