The StepFmily Center began for all of us Stepmoms. When I became a Stepmother in the mid-1970’s, I needed to connect with other women who were Stepmothers. There was nothing in place and no one that I could find to offer support and guidance.

I, of course, met other “mothers,” but being a Stepmom wasn’t the same at all. The roles looked the same, but the feelings and the dynamics were so different, and I felt like I was on the outside. Being a Stepmother is one of the most difficult journeys a woman can undertake, as it challenges us in far greater ways than we ever expected. At the StepFamily Center, services are provided to help Stepmothers along the journey. I’ve included here answers to some commonly asked questions. You may find answers on all of the pages on this site and through books and readings. I hope to make your journey easier.
